Back To Work…
Urgh. Got to work. I’ve been called again for jury duty, starting the middle of next month. That’s when I’m scheduled to be finishing off the Nov/Dec Transit in time for the printing deadline. And when I’ll be in the middle of laying out next year’s AA web diary . And when I’ll be still laying out the 2007 Elfin Diary. And when I had planned to sort out a new look for the Oakleaf Circle site
Bah. So I’ll have to get stuck in and do as much as possible beforehand. Again, bah. Not happy.
However, one bit of good news: Son should be moving into the Balmaclellan place next week! Yippee – he’ll be happy at having a whole house to himself. Well, “house” is a bit of an exaggeration – it’s just a little 1-up, 1-down cottage. But it will be all his!

Yes, I should be working. But I’ve found a new WordPress theme, and I’ve switched to it. It’s called K2 and it’s from Binary Bonsai. It has a theme-switcher and you can write your own CSS to get different colours and styles – as I’ve just done. (Although my stylesheet still needs some fine-tuning to get it looking right in blasted IE. It looks fine in Firefox and Opera, but IE has the positioning wrong. Grrr.) And, browsing through the K2 users discussion forum, I’ve at last come across a relatively simple means of converting WordPress into a CMS. It will take a fair bit of code-hacking and template-rewriting, but it’s doable. And once I’ve got it sorted for the Oakleaf Circle site, I can use the templates for future sites – quite a lot of people these days want a site they can add to and edit themselves without either having to learn web-coding, or paying somebody like me to do the job.
I’ve decided to discontinue the affiliated ads in the sidebar – I’ve been using them for almost a year and haven’t got a penny from them. In any case, it was too much hassle to integrate them into the new theme.
